The objectives of Director of Finance include but are not limited to the following:
i) Preserve and maintain all hotel assets and records.
ii) Prepare monthly Income Statements which record all revenues and expenses in the proper period including accruals for anticipated charges.
iii) Prepare or review all monthly Balance Sheet Reports which accurately reflect Assets, Liabilities and Equity.
iv) Timely and accurate recording, filing and payment of all hotel tax obligations.
v) Promote technological advances and operational efficiencies.
vi) Support Corporate and Task Force requests when possible.
b) The responsibilities of the Director of Finance include but are not limited to the following:
i) Coordination and oversight of all hotel financial activity.
ii) Implement and monitor effective policies and procedural controls throughout hotel in compliance with Crescent standards and guidelines.
iii) Provide accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with Crescent guidelines.
iv) Provide financial leadership and mentoring with all key hotel personnel.
v) Provide timely and well composed forecasts and budgets with the full involvement of the Executive Committee.
vi) The Finance department will fulfill all duties associated with providing a high quality guest experience.
vii) The Director of Finance will communicate on a timely basis to the General Manager of all potential favorable or unfavorable budget or profit exposures or opportunities.
viii) Deviations of hotel policies and procedures which come to the Director of Finance’s attention shall be reported to the General Manager.
ix) Non-compliance with legal requirements and contractual obligations (including obligations under a management agreement) to the extent such non-compliance has come to the Director of Finance’s attention, is reported to the General Manager and the Vice President of Finance.
The Director of Finance reports directly to the Vice President of Finance for the hotel and on a “dotted line” basis to the General Manager of the hotel.
c) Compliance to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is a critical requirement of the role of a Director of Finance.
i) Monitoring and enforcing compliance of Crescent’s Internal Control Questionnaire and all policies and procedures.
ii) The Hotel Director of Finance has an overall financial responsibility to Crescent Hotels and, accordingly, has a responsibility to make corporate management promptly aware of any financial problems within the hotel, or deviations from established policies or controls
iii) Any improprieties, as well as significant deviations from policies, particularly if it results in the misappropriation of funds or the issuance of an inaccurate period operating statement, must be reported to the Vice President of Finance immediately.
The Director of Finance works to assure that the accounting and financial functions are carried out in accordance with the standards established by the Crescent Hotela and Resorts Business Code of Ethics.
