Summary

The successful General Manager candidate will be responsible for maintaining position as a leading 4-star conference hotel in Saint John, New Brunswick, formulating overall strategy, and managing people. Summary of Responsibilities

  • Property Management and Leadership through daily meetings, organization, and direct training of associates.
  • Responsible for the financial success of the property through delivery of outstanding guest service, financial performance, and growth.
  • Lead overall sales activities, including sales calls, welcoming clients, site inspections and tours.
  • Delegate authority and assign responsibility to all management team. Overall responsible for hiring, training, developing, and performance management of team.
  • Allocate funds, authorize expenditures and assist departmental managers in budget planning.
  • Monitor cost control, property condition, cleanliness and quality of product and service throughout hotel for each department on a regular basis.
  • Answer guest complaints and resolve problems to maintain Guest Satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain associate relations by resolving issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Audit daily reports and process monthly reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the management company and franchise standards for personnel administration and performance, service to patrons, and room rates.
  • Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment adhering to the legislation set out by Occupational Health and Safety.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years’ experience as a hotel General Manager, preferably full-service.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is required.
  • Hospitality degree or higher level of education preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will have a sound background in sales, operations, yield management, financial reporting and delegation.
  • Highly energetic, motivated, self-starter with strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong customer/client focus essential.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent leadership qualities and success in building and leading a strong team.
