The Metterra & Varscona Hotels on Whyte are looking for an exciting & enthusiastic addition to our Guest Services team!

The Bellperson is a front line professional that ensures a positive overall impression of the property, as well as assists with all aspects of guest services. They assist guests in all facets of the hotel experience in an efficient, courteous and professional manner that maintains high standards of service and hospitality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Valet park and retrieve guest vehicles while maintaining accurate key log.
  • Show guests to room, assisting them with luggage.
  • Check luggage for hotel guests both for day and overnight.
  • Deliver messages and valet to guest rooms.
  • Explain all hotel facilities, their location in the hotel, hours of operation, and answer all questions about these facilities and other hotel questions.
  • Maintain the designated station in the lobby, standing alert to be easily summoned for fronts.
  • Provide information to guests about hotel and non-hotel attractions, facilities, services, and activities.
  • Assist front desk operations when required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1 year previous service experience required.
  • Canadian driver’s license with a safe, clean driving record (Driver’s Abstract required).
  • Ability to drive standard vehicles.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English. 
  • Must be able to work varied shift work, including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to manage effectively multiple tasks at all times.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean driving record.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes and luggage with sufficient manual dexterity in both hands to be able to load and unload luggage up to 75 lbs. 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Security clearance required upon offer of employment.
  • **All successful candidates will be required to be fully vaccinated upon hire. Proof for full vaccination will be required.**
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
    • Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
    • Must be completely familiar with the role during hotel emergencies, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, the use of Incident Reports and Logbooks.
    • Provincial legislation requires employees to work safely and cooperate with their employer by following the health and safety rules for the job.
