The Varscona Hotel on Whyte & Ampersand 27 are looking for an exciting & enthusiastic casual addition to our weekend kitchen team! The Dish Steward is to clean, transport and store all china, glassware and silverware while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of all areas of the dishroom, kitchen aisle, and back area.

Break down trays, set up dish machine, wash dishware, and sort and store all clean china, glass and silver using proper procedures.

Empty trashcans and wash inside and outside.

Thoroughly clean dock area and dumpster.

Break down dish machine and clean inside and outside.

Clean all breakdown tables, tile walls and baseboards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 1 year previous experience required.

Must have the ability to communicate in English.

Self-starting personality with an even disposition.

Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.

Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.

Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Must be completely familiar with the role during hotel emergencies, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, the use of Incident Reports and Logbooks.

Must be able to work varied evening shift work, weekends and holidays.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Security clearance required upon offer of employment.
  • All successful candidates will be required to show proof of full vaccination upon hire.     • Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
    • Must be completely familiar with the role during hotel emergencies, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, the use of Incident Reports and Logbooks.
    • Provincial legislation requires employees to work safely and cooperate with their employer by following the health and safety rules for the job.
