Definition:

The Marketing Intern supports marketing operations by creating, compiling, formatting, and reporting relevant marketing information and materials.

General Duties:

  • Prepares marketing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales data.
  • Keeps promotional materials ready by coordinating requirements with graphics department; inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
  • Researches competitive properties by identifying and evaluating characteristics, market share, pricing, and advertising; maintaining research databases.
  • Updates competitor database by inputting data from field sales; compiling, consolidating, formatting, and summarizing information, graphs, and presentations; distributing reports.
  • Monitors budgets by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
  • Assembles consumer rating reports by compiling, consolidating, formatting, and summarizing information, graphs, and presentations.
  • Supports sales presentations by assembling customer feedback, proposals, videos, slide shows, demonstration and product capability booklets; compiling account and competitor analyses.
  • Prepares mailers and brochures by formatting content and graphics; arranging printing and internet packages.
  • Maintains marketing library by checking and replenishing inventory.
  • Assists with web, publication, and graphics departments and development.
  • Works and coordinates trade show events, on-site events
  • Monitors and updates social media platforms
  • Acts a liaison with third-party advertising and public relation agencies.
  • Works with vendors to coordinate special events and on-going marketing projects. Consistently utilizes effective cost-saving strategies.
  • Ability to capture ongoing events and resort activities and timely distributes information through social media and public relations channels.
  • Ability to write press releases for local and regional audiences
  • Tracks, documents and files media mentions and milestones of department initiatives
  • Records and distributes minutes of relative marketing and event meetings

Employment Standards:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Strong knowledge of current social media platforms
  • Excellent language, spelling, writing, editing and proofreading skills and telephone etiquette.
  • Photography and video production background a plus
  • Event planning background valued

Language Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workflow.
  • Ability to write and edit copy that adheres to brand standards in style and tone for collateral, advertorial and online media.
  • Discretion and confidentiality is extremely important.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Should be very accurate and organized.

  • Must have the physical strength, stamina and agility to perform the assigned duties.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
  • Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to manager.
  • Requires problem solving abilities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and environmentally responsible work environment.
  • Must be able to interact with co-workers and have a sense of TEAM.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the application of sanitation procedures.

Required Certifications:

  • Minimum age requirement – 18+ (21+ if driving licensed Resort vehicle)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the requirements of driver insurability as established by the insurance carrier required.
  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field

Internship Specific Requirements:

  • Will assist management on special projects throughout course of internship
  • May rotate through multiple areas
  • Mid-term and Final evaluations to be completed by manager
  • Spring or Summer Semester
  • Must be currently enrolled in college level courses in related field
