JOB SUMMARY:

An Equipment Operator performs routine work involving the use of light motorized equipment (including tractors, trucks, mowers, utility vehicles, aerifiers, mechanical rakes, etc.) and does related work as needed. An equipment operator will continually undergo and be exposed to training and development. In addition, the Equipment Operator must also be proficient at and expected to perform all the duties of the Greenskeeper position and assist the Lead Greenskeeper, Application and Irrigation Technicians as assigned and directed by the supervisors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate all mowers, rollers, tractors and implements as assigned.
  • Operate a sod cutter, verticutter and aerifier as directed by his/her supervisor.
  • Operate a chainsaw, chipper, dump trailer or any other equipment as directed by his/her supervisor.
  • Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment used on a daily basis.
  • Report all equipment problems or failures to his/her supervisor or a mechanic immediately.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance of equipment as directed by Equipment Manager, mechanic or supervisor.
  • Refuel and clean all equipment upon completion of assignment on a daily basis.
  • Return all equipment to the designated area upon completion of the task.
  • Keep the equipment storage areas clean and orderly.
  • Assist in orientation and training of new staff on the safe and proper operation, use and preventive maintenance of equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license or CDL, meet the requirements of driver insurability as established by the Employer’s insurance carrier and must immediately report any change in status of the license to the Employer.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in equipment operation in golf course or grounds maintenance.
  • High School diploma or equivalent General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and/or background check per current employment policy.
  • Working knowledge of safe and efficient mechanical operation of trucks, tractors and other motorized and hand held golf course maintenance equipment and procedures.
  • Sufficient mechanical aptitude and basic working knowledge of gasoline and diesel equipment operation to properly check equipment prior to use.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High degree of good common sense and basic math skills.
  • Basic oral and written communication skills and able to follow instructions.
  • Working knowledge of safe and efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment to perform assigned duties.
  • Resident, member and guest sensitivity.
  • Must have the physical strength, stamina and agility to perform the assigned duties.
  • Also reports to the Equipment Manager, mechanics (when dealing with equipment) or other employee as designated by the supervisor.
  • Communication with the mechanic staff is essential.
  • All management information shall be kept in confidence.
  • Must have the physical strength, stamina and agility to perform the assigned duties.

  • Must have the physical strength, stamina and agility to perform the assigned duties.
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift, push and/or move up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time, and occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds with assistance.

Responsible for the security of all equipment, tools, supplies, materials and facilities entrusted or assigned by the Resort or supervisor
