What are my essential job responsibilities and essential functions?

  1. Greet guests and respond to guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
  2. Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the breakfast area operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team.
  3. Take and prepare guest orders, providing quality beverages and food products consistently for all customers according to established recipes and standards.
  4. Take guest beverage orders and accurately input orders in appropriate point-of-sale system.
  5. Accurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards, making change and processing gift certificates and cards.
  6. Requisition, stock and rotate products.
  7. Secure and store all beverages, food and other equipment items at the end of the shift.
  8. Deposit cash drops, secure and balance bank at the end of the shift.
  9. Maintain breakfast service areas clean and organized condition. Follow health and sanitation guidelines for all products, at all times.
  10. Assist in ensuring that shelves and merchandise displays are neat and organized, and maintain a quality appearance for the breakfast area. Shelves should “look full” at all times.
  11. Anticipate customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues.
  12. Communicate information to manager during each shift so that the team can respond as necessary.
  13. Assist with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving and giving respectful encouraging coaching as needed.
  14. Follow operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
  15. Perform opening and closing side work task as assigned by Supervisor.
  16. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  17. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Furthermore, this is a unionized position. Changes in description is subject to bargain with the union representative.
