POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Venue Manager, the Runner maintains efficient, courteous food / beverage operations by greeting guests, anticipating guests needs, and providing knowledgeable food /beverage service and providing consistent professional guest relations with a positive upbeat personality. Shangri-La alcohol training as well as all Shangri-La internal controls and must follow Oklahoma Liquor Laws consistently.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Meet and greet clients and staff while creating an inviting guest experience.
  • Runners are responsible for all opening and closing duties. These tasks should be completed as a team.
  • Continue to enhance education on drinks offered.
  • Ability to work efficiently while providing expedient service, always.
  • Presents menus, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service to patrons.
  • Possesses a strong knowledge of food, spirits, wine, champagne and cocktails.
  • Adheres to all Oklahoma liquor laws and companies’ internal controls.
  • Monitors guests to ensure that they are not intoxicated, and proper procedures are followed if intoxication is observed.
  • Delivers a positive and efficient dining experience for guests.
  • Provides tray service; large and small trays when needed.
  • Takes orders and may be required to prepare non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages for guests.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire work area.
  • Responsible for notifying the management team if any member or guest has concerns or opportunities.
  • Polishes and stocks silverware, glassware, product etc., and prepares for use.
  • Complete side work assigned by Venue Manager.
  • Assists in the daily operation of the restaurant in an efficient, cost effective and labor effective manner.
  • Contributes to the training of new team members.
  • Serves guests in a responsive, caring, prompt, and courteous manner.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of service for our guests.
  • Travel between Shangri-La properties may be needed.
  • Contributions as a team effort and accomplishes related results as necessary.
  • Due to changes and modification in the job from time to time, we require team members to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as management sees the necessity; some assignments may not be listed in this description.
  • Always maintaining professional appearance, etiquette, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Be adaptable with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones.
  • Safety and security protocols set forth by the employer are to be followed with the upmost importance to ensure the safety of our guests and staff.
  • Runners are required to stand for long periods of time and will often carry heavy items on a large serving tray.
  • Always check for changes in schedules. As well as checking in with Supervisors/Manager prior to leaving for the day/night.
  • Guests are to be escorted to the nearest restroom or any other area for their convenience.
  • Weave the room checking each table for any drinks that may need refills as well as clearing of the tables.
  • Everyone is expected to work together in our guest experience. This means you will often assist servers, bussers, and other runners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Degree or GED preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit and Able Liquor License. Recent experience in the restaurant field as a server or bartender in an upscale dining service setting is a bonus.

Every Crescent associate is a guest relations ambassador, every working minute of every day.

Work Habits: To maintain a positive guest and associate experience, your work habits should always meet and strive to exceed hotel standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, punctuality, and attendance. You should be adaptable to change in your work area and in hotel procedures with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones, can solve routine problems that occur on the job and ask for help whenever you are not sure how to do something.

Safety & Security: The safety and security of our guests and associates is of utmost importance to Crescent. Every Crescent associate should adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
