Definition:

This position assists in managing the resort's water obstacle course and recreational activities. The Assistant Manager will coordinate and ensure smooth operations, safety, and guest satisfaction during daily sessions. Responsibilities include overseeing safety measures, staff management, and maintenance of equipment and facilities, while ensuring exceptional guest experience and efficiency.

Required Certifications:

  • Minimum age requirement – 18+ (21+ if driving licensed Resort vehicle
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • At least two years of experience in recreational management, hospitality or outdoor activity setting
  • Water rescue certification (preferred)

General Duties:

  • Supports and manages the water obstacle course, working as needed with the Yacht Club Manager and other relevant departments.
  • Responsible for short and long-term planning for the obstacle course operations, guest events, and staff scheduling.
  • Oversee training of staff to ensure high standards of safety and guest service.
  • Ensure daily operations are running smoothly, respond to guest concerns, and adjust staffing levels as necessary based on guest demand.
  • Perform routine safety checks on equipment and the surrounding environment to ensure it is safe and operational.
  • Lead staff in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the area, including equipment storage and obstacle course zones.
  • Demonstrate leadership in providing exceptional guest service and fostering a high level of staff morale and engagement.
  • Develop and implement team building and safety drills for staff.
  • Supervise water-based recreational activities, ensuring safety protocols are being followed.
  • Handle guest issues and concerns professionally and efficiently, addressing complaints or special requests.
  • Keep in contact with the Lifeguard Certification training school to ensure they can assist with in-service checks for the team and assist in any necessary concerns

  • Must have a high degree of problem-solving abilities and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to get along with others, demonstrate flexibility, patience, and work as a member of a team while also acting as a mentor and leader.
  • Excellent communication skills with both staff and guests.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel); experience with outdoor recreation management software preferred.
  • Ability to effectively schedule employees based on demand and activity levels.
  • Ability to maintain and inventory water sports equipment and supplies.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible work environment.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

The physical demands of this role are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.

  • Must have the physical agility to assist guests and staff in water-based activities and obstacle courses.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, including water sports equipment and safety gear.
  • Follow all company, safety, and security procedures.
  • Report work-related accidents or injuries immediately to supervisor or YC Management.
  • Be capable of problem-solving in real-time situations, including emergency response.
  • Work in varying weather conditions, including exposure to water, sun, and heat.
  • Must be comfortable in a water environment and capable of conducting water rescues if necessary.
  • Interact with guests in a positive and professional manner, promoting teamwork and safety.
