Compensation: $75,000 to $77,000 per year

The Marker Union Square, a distinctive luxury boutique hotel in the heart of San Francisco, is seeking a motivated and detail oriented Assistant Housekeeping Manager to join our Housekeeping leadership team.

This is a hands on leadership position supporting the Executive Housekeeper in the daily operation of the department. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager helps lead the team, maintain exceptional cleanliness and presentation standards, and ensure our guest rooms and public spaces consistently reflect the quality of a lifestyle boutique hotel.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping Operations

  • Support the Executive Housekeeper in overseeing daily operations and ensuring guest rooms and public spaces meet established standards.
  • Conduct regular room and public area inspections to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and quality.
  • Monitor room assignments, daily workload, room status, and productivity.
  • Assist with departmental supplies, linen, equipment, uniforms, and inventory.
  • Communicate closely with Front Office regarding room status, priorities, special requests, VIPs, and guest needs.
  • Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, train, and support Housekeeping Team Members throughout daily operations.
  • Provide hands on support and direction during busy periods.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team environment.
  • Recognize strong performance and help develop Team Members for future leadership opportunities.
  • Guest Experience

  • Ensure guest rooms and public spaces consistently meet The Marker’s cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Respond to guest requests and concerns with professionalism and urgency.
  • Partner with Front Office and other departments to resolve room related issues quickly.
  • Assist with VIP rooms, special occasions, inspections, and other guest priorities.
  • Administrative & Compliance

  • Assist with departmental reporting, payroll, scheduling, inventory, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Ensure Housekeeping procedures, safety standards, and company policies are consistently followed.
  • Identify and promptly address workplace safety concerns.
  • Qualifications
  • Previous Housekeeping or hospitality experience required; leadership experience preferred.
  • Luxury or upscale hotel experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, hands on hotel environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Schedule & Compensation

    Schedule: Full time, approximately 45 hours per week

    Hourly Rate: $31.00 per hour

    This position is overtime eligible, with hours worked over 40 in a workweek paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate.

    Compensation Breakdown

    For a typical 45 hour workweek:

    Regular Hours

    40 hours × $31.00 = $1,240.00

    Overtime Hours

    5 hours × $46.50 = $232.50

    Total Weekly Earnings

    $1,240.00 + $232.50 = $1,472.50

    Annualized Earnings

    $1,472.50 × 52 weeks = $76,570

    This means a consistent 45 hour workweek would result in approximately $76,570 in annualized earnings, before taxes and other deductions. Actual earnings will vary based on hours worked each week, with overtime paid in accordance with applicable law.
