Summary: The Lead Engineer assists the Director and Assistant Director of Engineering with maintaining the entire hotel property, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment with particular attention towards safety, guest satisfaction, security and asset protection.

Essential Job Functions:Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conducting walk-throughs and visually assessing the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment
  • Ensuring all projects, including, but not limited to, routine maintenance, repairs, replacement and renovation projects, are completed on time and according to specifications
  • Working closely with other departments to ensure coordination of activities Preparing and adjusting weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts
  • Responding to guest requests in a timely, professional and friendly manner to help ensure that we are meeting or exceeding guest expectations
  • Acting as the safety coordinator for the entire hotel including ensuring that all emergency equipment and systems are inspected, tested and certified per standards
  • Maintaining a safe and working environment throughout the hotel for all associates, enforcing safety guidelines and building awareness about safety
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA, Fire & Safety Laws
  • Assessing critical repairs and facilitating an immediate and cost effective response
  • Implementing and managing procedures and practices that ensure quality assurance for work performed by hotel maintenance teams
  • Ensuring that there is an adequate inventory of parts, supplies, tools and materials available through effective ordering
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including day/night shifts, weekends and holidays

Qualifications:

  • Will have previous hotel and supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Engineer in a hotel, hospital, or building
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, and refrigeration equipment
  • Possess extensive working knowledge of building systems to include but not limited to; HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting and carpentry

Required Skills and Abilities: Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Must be able to receive instructions and communicate progress of work assignments.

Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and work well with fellow employees and maintain a presentable appearance, behavior and manner at all times. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: While performing duties of this job, the team member regularly is required to stand; use hands to finger or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear in person or on a radio. The team member occasionally is required to climb or balance; stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Requires ability to lift up to 80-150 pounds occasionally throughout the work week but may lift 30 - 40 pounds intermittently during work shift.

Work Environment: Working outside and inside the resort. Ability to work exposed to heat, sunlight, rain, and cold. I might work daylight or nighttime hours. Working with cleaning equipment and chemicals depending on the task.
