Description

Upon being hired for this position, you will enter a 90-day Part-Time Probationary status, working up to 40 hours per week.

After completing the probationary period, you will become eligible for Full-Time status with benefits.

Essential Duties:

• Greet guests hospitably and serve them efficiently providing proper food and beverage service.
• Learn and describe menu items to guests including chef specials.
• Suggest wine and other beverages.
• Responsible for standard table set-up procedures and cleanliness of the dining room.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age due to A.B.C. § 4.1-307
• 1 - 2 years server experience in a full service restaurant.
• Excellent public contact skills to include tact, courtesy and patience.
• Ability to
  1. Meet the standards listed below;
  2. Satisfy customers under all circumstances;
  3. Communicate effectively;
  4. Read and write, perform basic mathematical computations and memorize the food and beverages offered;
  5. Learn and communicate relevant dining information to guests;
• Physical requirements include but are not limited to:
  1. Bending, lifting, stooping;
  2. Carrying trays weighing up to 50 pounds;
  3. Extensive use of stairs.
• Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a current Williamsburg James City County food handler’s card and TIPS® certification; applicants with an active card and certification should be prepared to present both during the interview process.
