Description
Upon being hired for this position, you will enter a 90-day Part-Time Probationary status, working up to 40 hours per week.
After completing the probationary period, you will become eligible for Full-Time status with benefits.
Essential Duties:
- Greet guests hospitably and serve them efficiently providing proper food and beverage service.
- Learn and describe menu items to guests including chef specials.
- Suggest wine and other beverages.
- Responsible for standard table set-up procedures and cleanliness of the dining room.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age due to A.B.C. § 4.1-307
- 1 - 2 years server experience in a full service restaurant.
- Excellent public contact skills to include tact, courtesy and patience.
- Ability to
- Meet the standards listed below;
- Satisfy customers under all circumstances;
- Communicate effectively;
- Read and write, perform basic mathematical computations and memorize the food and beverages offered;
- Learn and communicate relevant dining information to guests;
- Physical requirements include but are not limited to:
- Bending, lifting, stooping;
- Carrying trays weighing up to 50 pounds;
- Extensive use of stairs.
- Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a current Williamsburg James City County food handler’s card and TIPS® certification; applicants with an active card and certification should be prepared to present both during the interview process.
