Description

The Server at Urban Pour is responsible for delivering an elevated, personalized dining experience that reflects the vibrant, local spirit of Austin and the boutique identity of Hotel Indigo Austin Downtown – University. This role serves as the primary point of contact for guests in the restaurant, ensuring attentive, efficient, and engaging service while maintaining brand and service standards.

Servers are expected to create memorable guest experiences through strong menu knowledge, genuine hospitality, and the ability to anticipate guest needs in a fast-paced, social dining environment. Core responsibilities include greeting guests, taking and delivering orders accurately, and providing service aligned with established standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Greet guests promptly with a warm, engaging, and professional demeanor
  • Present menus, provide detailed knowledge of food, beverage, and local offerings
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS system
  • Deliver food and drinks in a timely and polished manner
  • Anticipate guest needs and ensure satisfaction throughout the dining experience
  • Perform side work and station setup/closing duties as assigned
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas and service stations
  • Handle guest concerns with professionalism and escalate when necessary
  • Process payments accurately and follow cash-handling procedures
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous serving experience in a restaurant, hotel, or bar environment preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced setting
  • Knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails (or willingness to learn quickly)
  • TABC and Food Handler certifications (or ability to obtain)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking. Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.

In order to maintain a positive guest and associate experience, your work habits should always meet and strive to exceed hotel standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, punctuality and attendance. You should be adaptable to change in your work area and in hotel procedures with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones, have the ability to solve routine problems that occur on the job and ask for help whenever you are not sure how to do something.

Safety & Security:

The safety and security of our guests and associates is of utmost importance to Crescent Hotels & Resorts. Every Crescent associate should adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
