Description
ABOUT ELYSÉE NEW YORK
Elysée New York is entering a new chapter as an intimate luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The hotel blends the elegance of a historic New York residence with the warmth and cultural spirit of a European luxury hotel, delivering a guest experience built on genuine hospitality, considered detail, and quiet discretion. Elysée New York is managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, one of North America's leading hospitality management companies.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Elysée New York is seeking a meticulous, guest-focused Night Auditor to manage the hotel's overnight financial close while serving as the primary Front Desk presence during overnight hours. Reporting to the Front Office Manager and Assistant Front Office Manager, this individual reviews and corrects audit reports, reconciles daily revenue and expenses, balances accounts, and prepares accurate reporting for hotel leadership, all while extending the same considered hospitality as the daytime Front Desk team, including check-in, wake-up calls, reservations, and concierge-level guest service. The Front Desk operates to Leading Quality Assurance standards, and the Night Auditor is responsible for upholding those standards through the overnight hours, often as the only associate a guest encounters. This position works overnight shifts and requires flexibility across weekends and holidays.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
NIGHT AUDIT AND FINANCIAL OPERATIONS
- Run and review nightly audit reports across hotel systems, identifying and correcting discrepancies before the close of business.
- Enter and reconcile daily revenue, expenses, and allowances in Opera Cloud, the hotel's guest reservation and billing system, ensuring every figure balances before the day is closed.
- Balance department accounts and maintain accurate financial files in accordance with hotel and accounting standards.
- Reset hotel systems each night to prepare for the next day's operations, and troubleshoot or escalate any computer or system issues that arise.
- Prepare and distribute daily reports accurately and on schedule for hotel leadership review.
FRONT DESK AND GUEST SERVICE
- Serve as the primary Front Desk presence overnight, welcoming and checking in guests with the same warmth and discretion expected at any hour.
- Respond to all guest requests overnight, including wake-up calls, reservations, and concierge-level recommendations, taking ownership of each through to completion.
- Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, addressing overnight guest needs with the same care given to in-person service.
- Maintain accurate awareness of overnight arrivals, departures, and any special requests noted for the following day.
COORDINATION AND COMMUNICATION
- Communicate clearly with the Front Office Manager, Assistant Front Office Manager, and the incoming day shift on outstanding items, discrepancies, or guest requests, including over the Relay and in shift notes.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Security, and other departments as needed to resolve issues that arise overnight.
- Alert the Front Office Manager or Assistant Front Office Manager promptly to any financial discrepancy, guest concern, or situation requiring escalation.
QUALITY ASSURANCE, DISCRETION, AND BRAND STEWARDSHIP
- Uphold Leading Quality Assurance and Elysée New York service standards in every guest interaction, including through the quietest hours of the night.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of guest, financial, and hotel information at all times.
- Maintain accurate, complete records in Opera Cloud and KYC for every guest interaction and financial transaction.
- Maintain a polished, professional appearance and an organized, presentable Front Desk area throughout the shift.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies independently.
- Genuine passion for hospitality, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver warm, attentive guest service.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision, appropriate to an overnight shift.
- Strict discretion and confidentiality, particularly regarding financial and guest information.
- Clear, professional, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of hotel reservation and property management systems, such as Opera Cloud, or the ability to learn new systems quickly.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one to two years of night audit, accounting, or front desk experience within a hotel environment.
- Demonstrated experience delivering personalized, high-touch guest service.
- Ability and willingness to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Experience within the New York City luxury hospitality market.
- Previous experience with a luxury boutique or independent luxury property.
- Familiarity with Opera Cloud or a comparable property management and accounting system.
- Multilingual capabilities are a plus, though not required.
