Position Summary

Bayside Spa is seeking an experienced and motivated Spa Fitness Manager to oversee the daily operations of the resort's fitness and wellness facilities, including Bayside Spa, Summit Fitness Center, and Paseo Fitness Center. This leadership role is responsible for managing fitness services, personal training, group exercise programming, retail operations, smoothie bar operations, and team performance while delivering exceptional member and guest experiences.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on wellness professional with strong leadership, operational, and financial management skills who thrives in a luxury hospitality environment.

Essential Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and develop fitness instructors, personal trainers, front desk staff, smoothie bar associates, and retail team members.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity, and service standards.
  • Maintain certification records and ensure compliance with all required training and safety standards.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on wellness, hospitality, and guest satisfaction.

Fitness & Wellness Operations

  • Oversee all daily operations of the fitness centers, movement studios, and wellness facilities.
  • Develop, implement, and manage group fitness schedules, personal training services, wellness programs, and special events.
  • Conduct fitness assessments, personal training sessions, and wellness consultations as needed.
  • Ensure all facilities maintain luxury resort presentation standards and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement service improvements when appropriate.
  • Stay current on industry trends, fitness innovations, and wellness best practices.

Facility & Equipment Management

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment throughout all fitness and wellness areas.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with resort policies, safety regulations, and health standards.

Retail & Smoothie Bar Operations

  • Oversee retail operations, including merchandising, inventory control, purchasing, product selection, and sales performance.
  • Manage smoothie bar operations, including staffing, quality assurance, inventory controls, menu offerings, and guest service.
  • Ensure compliance with food handling, sanitation, and safety requirements.
  • Develop promotions and wellness-focused retail and beverage offerings that enhance guest engagement and revenue.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Manage departmental schedules, payroll, labor costs, operating expenses, and budgets.
  • Monitor financial performance and achieve departmental revenue objectives.
  • Track participation levels, personal training revenue, retail sales, and smoothie bar profitability.
  • Prepare operational reports and assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue through fitness programming, personal training, retail sales, wellness events, and beverage offerings.

Collaboration & Guest Experience

  • Partner with Spa, Recreation, Food & Beverage, and Resort Operations leadership to enhance wellness offerings and special events.
  • Build strong relationships with resort members and guests to encourage participation and satisfaction.
  • Serve as an ambassador of health, wellness, and luxury hospitality throughout the resort.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years of fitness, wellness, recreation, or hospitality management experience.
  • Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (NASM, ACSM, ACE, NSCA, or equivalent).
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business software.
  • Strong knowledge of fitness equipment, exercise programming, personal training, and wellness trends.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Professional appearance and commitment to exceptional guest service.
  • Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Luxury resort, spa, hospitality, or wellness management experience.
  • Group Fitness Certification.
  • Retail operations and inventory management experience.
  • Food and beverage management experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, and remain active throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to demonstrate fitness techniques and maintain a visible presence throughout the facility.
